Our story

Since 1986, we have been designing garments as dedicated as the chefs and service professionals who wear them. From our family business in the Netherlands, we’re building an international community of skilled professionals who work with precision and pride. Every piece of clothing is the result of years of collaboration, craftsmanship, and conscious material choices. You can see it in the details, feel it in the comfort, and recognize it by the ‘H’ on the shoulder. That symbol stands for mastery and progress. As a certified B Corp company, we take responsibility for our actions and continue to improve. We help chefs move freely, work with confidence, and contribute to a forward-thinking industry without compromising on style or quality.

Sustainability

At Le Nouveau Chef, our pursuit of sustainability matches the pace of the frontrunners in gastronomy. We choose what’s best for our chefs and what’s fair and just for everyone in our supply chain. Our workwear combines functionality and comfort with stylish designs that allow chefs to proudly express their identity and values. Each design is born from the feedback of ambitious professionals and shaped by decades of innovation in gastronomy and textiles. The goal: to reduce negative impact and move towards a zero-waste chain. We select materials based on longevity and performance and structure our production processes as locally and efficiently as possible. Sustainability has been a core value of our vision from the very beginning.

Our production

At Le Nouveau Chef, we make choices that support a responsible production process. That’s why all our manufacturing takes place within Europe, in countries where we have insight into working conditions, collaboration, and quality.

  • 5.9% of our clothing was produced in Portugal in 2024.
  • 94.1% of our clothing was produced in Poland in 2024.
  • 100% of our production takes place within the European Union, under supervision of fair labor practices and with respect for worker well-being.

Consciously chosen fabrics

We select our materials carefully, based on their properties and origin. In 2024, the majority of our fabrics came from raw materials grown or processed under specific conditions:

  • 67% of the fabrics we used came from raw materials with a lower environmental impact, based on the Modint Fiber Matrix.
  • 86% of our cotton came from crops grown without synthetic fertilizers or chemical pesticides.
  • 51% of our polyester was made from recycled plastic bottles.
  • 4% of our fabrics consisted of TENCEL™ Lyocell, a fiber derived from wood pulp.

Traceability

Within our supply chain, we guarantee 100% traceability for the assembly and production process. We know where and by whom each garment is made, from fabric to finishing. We have full transparency in two of the four production levels: Tier 1 refers to the locations where our garments are manufactured. Tier 2 includes the producers responsible for weaving or manufacturing the textiles.

“Every choice – from material and design to production partner – is the result of careful consideration and dedication.”

Innovation

At Le Nouveau Chef, we understand that an ambitious chef is never satisfied with “good enough.” Just as chefs are loyal to their ingredients, craftsmanship, and people, so are we. That’s why we won’t stop until we can guarantee that every garment lasts at least one hundred washes. For us, innovation means continuing to develop until we make no compromises on quality, durability, and ethical practices.

Familiy Values

At Le Nouveau Chef, we are guided by family values: personal, trusted, close, and respectful of the generations before and after us. You can see this in our European production sites, where we know the well-being of our people, in our choice of materials that perform in the most demanding kitchens, and in garments that transcend trends, time, and seasons. Our workwear reflects both the unique vision of the chef and the unity of the team, because the most beautiful creations come from the harmony of individuals working together as a family, in the kitchen and with us. Since Robert ten Hoope began in 1986 with high-quality table linen, our family business and our global chef community have grown, united by craftsmanship and friendship, a growth that, like our values, continues to this day.

Mission Statement

At Le Nouveau Chef, we believe that innovation, community, quality, and accountability are inseparably linked. We are a partner in the journey of every ambitious chef and a driving force for sustainable change in the industry. By being ambitious in our vision and transparent in our choices, renowned chefs such as Xavier Pellicer, Julia Klomp, Andrea Caminada, Henrique Sa Pessoa, and Soenil Bahadoer have placed their trust in us. Because what we do, they have known for years: where gastronomy and fashion meet, you’ll find the Le Nouveau Chef community.
